THE LANDLORD'S JOKE. By GEORGE POWER-. The followirig account of an amusing adventure of the late Mr . William Fithian was contributed to "The Alliance News," March 7th,, 1890. The hero of the story was for some years a bookseller in Heywood and Manchester. In 1863 he removed to London, where he acted as agent of the London auxiliary of the United Kingdom Alliance. In 1886 he delivered a lecture on "London at Midnight" in the York-street schoolroom, Heywood, an behalf of the band of hope connected with that place. He died in 1894.
