On this day in History 13th June 1904

A walking race from Heywood Church to Littleborough Church and back aroused considerable local interest.  There were nearly 200 entries, and of these 103 actually turned out.  The race (which was won by B. Howe, Rochdale, in 2 hrs.  21mins.) was arranged by Mr E. Taylor, of York-street, Heywood.
